Here's a ride report from this summer in Big Bear. I love it up there. Staged at the base of Gold Mountain and hit Gold Mountain, John Bull, White Mountain and Redonda Ridge. Fun ride with perfect weather.

Where we were heading
No more pics of Gold Mountain, didn't want to stop so we could get past the pack of jeeps that left while we were gearing up
Now we're on John Bull
There's a few rocks on this trail
Done with John Bull. Cool mountain meadow

Is there enough intermediate trails up there that connect for a full day's ride? Or do you have to take some black diamonds to make that happen? The tuff thing for me riding stuff like John Bull is keeping my eyes far enough ahead to choose the right line, all the while staying on the gas while dodging the boulders directly under me. I often hit a rock and then boinage starts and I lose my momentum, line and confidence. Picking up my heavy bike all day wastes me. Yet I dont get better or stronger if I dont ride it. It is almost shocking that I havent been up there yet, or Kennedy Meadows! It looks like such a great place to ride.
I like many need a bike for EVERY application. Well hopefully I can check that Arrowhead Silverwood area out sometime. I hope SRAD is gonna show me someday
