Camelbak For Trail Riding?

 Did he add all these tools since the last time he and I rode together...
Just enought to change a tire and do simple repairs since I am not really that mechanically inclined. Timoyz and Mr. Rack are really the ones with all the tools now. Tim even has a workbench in his Ogio vest.

I use the Camelback H.A.W.G. It has a 100 oz bladder that is plenty for the long hot rides and you can carry extra drink in bottles, carry food and tools too.

on the last ride for Team i didn't bring anything... i never really drink at home and i guess i'm just lazy but i usually just hop on and ride i got thirsty but it didn't really bother me. I've got a small camel pack though and i think i'm gonna put some water with protein shake and ice in it next time.

Let the flaming begin. I personally hate camelbacks (or anything on my back when I ride), but hydration is critical especially when it is warm. I have a pack on my back fender that holds three 17 oz water bottles. That is sufficient for most cooler weather rides. But if it is hot, that doesn't cut it. You will definitely need something James. But temps will be pleasant and might be even cold for TDay week.

Over labor day weekend (temps in the low 100's), I hydrated before but was still cotton mouthed after only 5-10 minutes. In the winter, I might not even go thru more than one bottle in a 2 hour ride. Hope this helps.

BTW, a mile from camp is more like it.:lol:

Don't forget Geek, he's from Indy...I think they know what winter's like! As for cotton mouth...try chewing gum, helps me a lot...honestly I took the bladder out of my camel and pack several water bottles and a couple beers cuz....ya just never know! :smirk:

 What do you consider cold? 50? 40? :P

Even though it shouldn't be too "cold", we have seen it snow just above where we camp over Tday weekends in the past. Have even camped out there where the overnight temps have just been above 0 degrees too. Not exaggerating here either.

To take it one step further, where I live (border of so cal and central cal), our winter weather is very similar to yours. We have even have had mornings in the 20's already, a couple weeks ago.

So better bring your parka.:smirk: You had to start this huh?:blah::blah:

 Yup

Last winter we had -20 so :mmph:

Damn, it was a brutal winter last year and from what I've been hearing it'll be even worst this year. Snow so deep that a couple days you didn't even bother getting up until noon when the plows had everything cleared. Drifts that reach 4-5 feet. :foul: Stupid friggen lake effect, you're a "weathergeek" so you'll know what that is. :smirk:

BTW don't forget I'm only at like 1,000 asl so being up 10,000 ft doesn't count. :smirk:

I love it when it snows like that:clap: I like to make a fire and watch the snow fall and read a book, just seems so quite and peacefull. sux to drive in tho or work in but fresh snow fall is the best:banana:
