Hey guys, I just got this email about a blood drive to help us off-road guys make a statment and thought I'd share it.

Press Release:

EVERGREEN, CO (April 29, 2010) - This summer, the RiderDown Foundation is out for blood....your blood. We’re asking for your help with the RiderDown Blood Drive In Memory of Fallen Riders. Please spread the word and bring a friend. We all know how important it is to have an adequate supply of blood on hand when it’s needed.

The RiderDown Foundation, whose mission is to help injured off-road riders is sponsoring a nationwide, week long blood drive. The dates for this first annual blood drive are June 7-11, 2010. People wishing to donate blood in the memory of their fallen friends and fellow riders can find their local blood center by visiting RiderDown’s website at www.riderdown.org and look for the thread “RDF Blood Drive in Memory of Fallen Riders - HELP!” We encourage anyone who rides, has children or friends that ride to take a few minutes out of their week to stop at their local blood center to give blood. You never know, the blood you give may save the life of a friend or loved one!

About RiderDown Foundation: With a nationwide network of volunteers ready to lend support and assistance to injured riders, RiderDown is actively giving back to the off road community. As a non-profit, 501(c)3 charitable organization, RiderDown has been delivering on its mission of “Helping Riders Up” since 2005. Dedicated to helping responsible off-road motorcyclists and ATV racers who have been injured, proceeds are used to provide assistance to riders and their families when faced with medical expenses and related issues. In cooperation with their partners in the field of medical bill review, RDF has saved injured riders thousands of dollars on excessive and/or unnecessary medical charges. Their “Angels” visit injured riders in the hospital and at home, offering a friendly voice during difficult times. To find out more about RiderDown and ways you can help, go to www.riderdown.org

Gave my first pint of blood today. :rocker:

I tried about a week ago to give blood at a drive at my school... I'm 5'4 120.... I was to light to give blood. maybe this one has different guidelines though? probably not. however, that blood drive looks like a great thing!! I wish everybody at RDF a great run at it. and Godspeed to those that have passed.

Word of advice though if/when you do give blood, wait an extra few days before riding. Was pretty light headed after a few minutes of riding, a pint of blood is a lot for a little guy like me. :bonk:
