Okay, Many of you have participated in the on-going mystery regarding my KLX650 (thank you all) in the thread titled 'KLX650R No-Start', for those that are new, please see this link for what is essentially Part 1 of this saga; https://www.dirtbikeaddicts.com/content/threads/klx-650r-no-start.9298/ Since I have witnessed this bike run multiple times and I believe I have found new info, this is the new thread which should probably be titled, 'KLX650R Wont Stay Running'. So here is what is new; Since I wasn't able to kick it over (I could literally stand on the kickstarter without turning the engine) I re-checked the cam gears and they have skipped teeth, and are off. Tonight I decided to measure the upper timing chain that I got used off eBay (mentioned in part 1), below is a photo; Below is a photo of what I presume to be the old cam chain (bottom) off this bike since it was in the box of spare parts that the bike came with, next to the eBay chain (top). They are both 47 links long; Below is a poor photo of the intermediate gear between the upper and lower chain that was also in the box of extra parts, and the above chain wrapped around it. I also presume that this gear is the old original one off the bike, but who knows...; Does anyone see anything unusual?
