So a couple friends and I decided to take a ride up to Mountain City, TN from here in NC and check this place out, as none of us had been there before. From what we could tell it was a little more geared towards ATV's, but it's also been under construction for the past couple years and they've been fixing and adding new trails, so we figured we'd at least check it out and see
The day definitely started off a little on the chilly side..... I brought lots of clothes, just to be on the safe side, hahah
By the time we all got there it had started to warm up some...... clear skies and looking to be a beautiful day! Ready to ride
The first spot we all wanted to check out was.... this! The old fire tower. A lot of the trails in this place were old fire roads from waaaaaay back when
We all started to make our way to the top. Notice the big cement numbers......so they could identify the tower/area by air
Of course a group shot is a must, lol. I'm on the left in the blue, then my buddy Joel, Andrea, and Michael
The view up there was incredible! Pictures do it no justice whatsoever
Did some more riding and stopped at another little spot that had a hiking path going off of it
Of course we had to check it out..... another killer view from up on the rock!
You can't really see it in the pics, but on the other side of the big rock above, is a sheer cliff... drops off straight down
We went back to the parking lot to grab some food, and the one guy had to take off to get home. But then we went back out and checked out a few other trails. This was later in the day (3:00-ish maybe) and apparently this trail never comes out of the shade, as it was still all frosted over. There was a couple 'puddles' along the way, and right before going through them I was thinking, "is that ice?"..... crunch crunch crunch crunch...... yup, all frozen over
The dual sport tires I'm currently running royally suuuuucckkkkeed on this trail! Couple spots I honestly wasn't sure I was gonna get up, and really wishing I had my actual dirt tires on, lol. But it was still a fun trail, other than the sun blinding our eyes the whole way. There was a random old building up at the top of the mountain with a bunch of the old huge satellite dishes mounted all around it...... kinda weird
Finally made it back to the parking lot once again and decided to call it a day, get packed up and head home
None of us really knew what to expect with this place, but we all ended up having a great time! It definitely wasn't as difficult or technical of trails as we're used to here at our local spots (we did have one newer dirt rider with us so that wasn't necessarily a bad thing), but it was still a lot of fun none the less. We'd definitely go back..... fun times for sure!
