Why is there a hole?

Just noticed it... Did a cap fall off? What can I do to fix it? Here's a picture:

That's the starter housing. It needs to be covered, or a starter installed. That's a direct entry point into the engine.

Looks like Chinese bike, and that is what it is, I was going to ask.... What hole, the one where the electric starter is supposed to be?
Whine cork will be fine.

Anything that will cover the hole and keep water, mud, and dirt out will work.

If you are not planning on putting an electric starter back on the bike (wish you luck in even finding one) drill a hole in the center of the housing where the cork fits and run a screw through it and into the cork. Or if you want to spend some money.... Find expansion plug (like for a little boat) and stick it in, tighten in up, and rip that Chinese bike around like you stole it!

You can also look for an expandable freeze plug from and auto parts shop to fit the hole. Remember, what ever you put in that hole has to hold up to some build up of crank case pressures.
