Tricks for water pump oil seal removal? Need help!

I followed your guys advice and order all the parts I was told I needed. I have the whole crank case removed as well as the water pump and the two clips holding the bearings in place. The next step that needs to be done to fix this is to remove the water pump oil seal. I looked in the manual and it says I need about $100 in tools to remove the old one and to install the new one. Im sure there is an easier way to remove this, but I wasn't sure what it was. thanks for the help!

there is... I use sockets and a threaded rod for some seals and bearings.... you might be able to use just a socket and some light taps with a hammer.

Two seals to a water pump, inner and outer. To remove the inner one behind the bearing, you must remove the bearing. You can do this with a small socket and try not to damage the inner race of the bearing, or buy a new bearing and smack it out anyway. And then there is a bearing tool that is a collet spreader and slide hammer.

Use a socket that sits only against the bearing, and one or two really good hammer strikes, it'll pop out.
Seals can be pryed out with a screwdriver and light hammer taps between the case and the outer diameter of the seal. -BIG DAN:thumb:
