Anyone thats passed away from riding injuries; pro, amateur, casual rider, etc.

On Presidents Day weekend, 2009, Taylor LaKamp lost his life in a freak accident in Cal City.

On Thanksgiving Day, 2009, Bill Perrett, my good friend lost his life in a head on collision with another motorcycle rider just a mile south of Cuddieback Lake.

Both of these guys have memorials out at the Husky Memorial. :thumb:

Jesse Phibbs, October 5th 2010
Pro-ranked Phibbs, 21, of Leamington, Ontario, crashed in turn two with another rider during the first heat race on the mile oval at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Jesse passed away on Tuesday, October 5, from his injuries.

Wow, this is a lot of fellow riders coming to an unfortunate ending too quickly. This is a dangerous sport we like to do.

I think we tend to block out the danger. Our passion and excitement overrides those thoughts. But the reality IS, it is a very dangerous sport. I believe the more aggressive you ride, the more likely your going to crash harder but perhaps crash less? I wonder how much being a better rider/agressive rider vs. beginner/slower rider compares in deaths. Probably more deaths in aggressive riding but more casual injuries in the beginner/slower riders? Hmmm... who knows? And how many were racing vs. recreational riding? And track vs. trail? I bet more track deaths.
When I ride in the LPNF I feel safer then I do in the OHV park at Gorman. Less people riding up there and most the riders typically have better skills however, the riders are typically riding more aggressive too. It can make for some nasty head on's when two aggressive riders collide but also, better skills to stop or pass one another too. Hmmm...this is all so interesting:coffee: I think someone needs to fund a study on it.
Im sure there are many more fallen then mentioned here. Godspeed to all of the fallen riders:salute:

Eyvind Boyesen 2010 he may not have passed away riding but, he was a great ambassador to our sport. I hope he counts.

Tough me everything I know about riding fast on a dirt track. Overall a great guy and fast rider. Missed by many, taken from this world too soon. Rip 42e 1185322_1393955720831266_580938227_n.jpg
Aj and his father Tony at Ventura circa 2011

Sad to hear this news again. I am not familiar with this so I have no details. RIP AJ. It is hard to see the smile on his dads face only to know what he must be going through today.
