best bike ever made i dont know about that. i would take any new bike over that all day but for its time and certinaly for a peice of dirtbike history those are bad assery to the max.

975 bucks. I need to check the vin to see the year. It came with an extra engine that was built for drag racing. Its a high compression big bore ported race gas motor. 89 peak hp.

I remember somewhere I read that there was a group that were buying up old 500's and building hillclimb dragsters and 1/4 mile dragsters...... that was a looooong time ago though.

Yep, the thing about the CR500 is the older they where the harder they hit. Once they realized it was a widow maker they toned it down over the years.

I had an 83 480 air cooled and they soon went to the 500 water pumper I believe. I also bought a brand new 89 CR500 and it was surely a beast.
