IT200 MOTOR HELP!

I own a 1986 Yamaha IT 200. I scored the piston and I need a top end kit, but the only ones that I could find are for 1988-04 Yamaha Blaster 200. I've been told that they are different engines. but???

Any help, assistance or leads are appreciated!

Thanks

There are plenty of parts on e-bay for this unit. Not as a kit, but the separate parts are there plus all gaskets in one kit. The 88-04 is different and will not work.

I searched 'IT200 Piston' and came up with the following;
$104 Kit
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wiseco-Pist...986-/330843883102?hash=item4d07d5065e&vxp=mtr

DONT FORGET THE PIN BEARING!!!
$11
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shindy-Pist...?fits=Model:IT200&hash=item461b8578a8&vxp=mtr

Base Gasket
$9
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-43G-...200-/321801072176?hash=item4aecd6ae30&vxp=mtr

Looks like the Head Gasket is re-usable on this model. Make sure it's in good condition. $30 for a used one on ebay... :shocked:

Have you measured the piston to see if it is stock (sometimes you can clean it up and find markings on the top. .50 will mean a half a millimeter over bore or .020" of an inch overbore.) have you measured the cylinder for wear and taper? Honest, no matter where you get your piston, you don't want to order it before you have the answers to that.

I would take the cylinder, head and piston into a local shop. Have them spec it out. They'll do that for free. As a courtesy buy your parts from them or have them hone the cylinder for ya. They won't be that much more.

If your seized piston left any aluminum on the cylinder you will need to acid treat it at the least and hone it. probably best to just bore it. I havent seen one that didnt benefit from boring when you are out the cost of a piston anyway.
