I'm An A-Hole, But I Got My Burger

It's been a long time since I've taken my Son riding. With all the time, & money that has gone into being in football, I wasn't going to take the chance of him eating crap on his bike, so he could sit on the bench and watch the season go by. So with the last game in the books, we had planned a big loop, with some new to him scenery. I didn't post up a open invite thread(:moon: @ Palmer) because I wasn't sure what was going to be in store for the actual ride. Travace caught wind of our plan for Sunday the 13th, and we decided to meet at 8:00 AM, to get the loop completed, so we could get the elusive Slash X burger that we missed last time.
That RR is here, if you're so interested. https://www.dirtbikeaddicts.com/for...no-slash-x-burger-celebrate-rr.html#post71332

So, on to the day...

With the truck loaded, I put Sawyer behind the wheel, on the road at 6:00 AM, with the plan of hitting a Bobs All You an Eat buffet on the way up.
IMG_4873.jpg
As we crested the hill, Trav texted and said he had left too early, and was at the staging spot. So we scrapped the buffet, and drove through McDonalds.
IMG_4874.jpg
With the drive through breakfast, we were at Hodge Road a little after 7:00.

My 23 mile old Michellin.
IMG_4877.jpg
Buttheads new Warp 9 wheel set, with new rubber.
IMG_4876.jpg
As we were gearing up, it was realized Butthead forgot his gloves, so being the Dad, I let him use mine.:foul: Just another reason I call him Butthead.:noidea:
IMG_4880.jpg
It was a great early start though, on the bikes by 8:00
IMG_4881.jpg
The crew right on my arse.
IMG_4882.jpg
We hit the deep sand river, and climbed the other side.
Sawyer making it to the top.
IMG_4883.jpg
A quick picture opportunity, and we hit the trail again.

To Be Continued...

The plan was to ride through Hinkley without stopping, but without gloves, my hands were screaming to stop and find something for Butthead that would work.

We found these, especially for his Uncle.
IMG_4888.jpg
While we were there, a plated 450X came in for gas. I guess there was a Los Coyotes Dual Sport event going on that day also.
IMG_4887.jpg
After leaving Hinkley Mart, we stopped at one of the many abandoned farms in town. If you've seen the movie, "Erin Brockavich" you know the back story of the area.
IMG_4889.jpg
Alot of crap still here, you can tell that they all jumped in their cars, and split.
IMG_4890.jpg
Trav and his hose.:smirk:
IMG_4891.jpg
A few bones here, and there too.
IMG_4892.jpg
After leaving Hinkley, we beat it to Minneola Road to top our tanks.

One of the rare time Sawyer didn't have his Skull Candy in his ears.
IMG_4893.jpg
Just outside of the gas stop, Trav realized he had a flat rear. Here he's gathering crates to get the rear in the air.
IMG_4894.jpg
The first step completed.
IMG_4895.jpg
Sawyer, taking a lesson from me on all the self portraits.

To Be Continued....

I would die on that tire here, ha:thumb: Good deal though!

I'm sure he wasn't having alot of fun in all the washes we were in, but he made it. The front was even worse, and with having to replace the 20" rim, he'll have to wait for the new rear.:prof:

While wrenching on Travs bike, someone decided to give me a copilot. Sawyer, and Trav are new best friends, because neither one of them would rat out the other.:smirk:
IMG_4900.jpg
Trav making the final tweaks on his scooter, or so he thought.
IMG_4901.jpg
Skull Candy "In".
IMG_4902.jpg
My obligatory self portrait.:busted:
IMG_4903.jpg
I came out from washing my hands, and Weather Geek had showed up.
IMG_4904.jpg
Putting all the tools away, and getting ready to hit the trail.
IMG_4905.jpg
Until Travace realized he didn't tighten his rear axle nut.
IMG_4906.jpg
That could have been bad. :crash:
IMG_4907.jpg
After gas, and a tube change, we rode the short trip to the old Lake Dolores amusement park.
IMG_4912.jpg
Sawyer checking out the concessions.
IMG_4913.jpg
Sawyer described it perfectly as a Zombie Appocolypse setting.
IMG_4914.jpg
Travace, too quick for the camera.
IMG_4911.jpg
Rest stop.
IMG_4915.jpg

Yes, more to come....

Finally, The Conclusion!

Trav dropping into the slippery outer loop.
IMG_4909.jpg
I might be a bitch, but I wouldn't eat dinner made by this cook.:smirk:

Travace, wheeling to the North.
IMG_4917.jpg
Same thing, but to the South.:blah:
IMG_4918.jpg
He came close to ending the ride here, by either the pole, or boulders.
IMG_4919.jpg
I bet there was another skid mark, besides the one on the cement.

IMG_4925.jpg
Alien graffity holding, errrr, well, something.
IMG_4926.jpg
After Rock A Hula, we geared up and rode to Afton Canyon, for another well deserved break.

IMG_4933.jpg
We hit the trail, and rode nonstop to the X, just in time to order some well deserved grub.
IMG_4935.jpg
This shot sure shows the 160 miles he rode today.

It was a great day of riding, even with the few mishaps, I wouldn't change anything if I could. Thanks to Travace for acompanying Sawyer and I, and sorry to all the DBAers that didn't get a invite. May your Turkey Trip, be warm and sunny, with no, err, blowing stuff.
