How to get metal shavings out of engine?

So my buddy has a 06 CRF250R that just seized and apparently it was the lower connecting rod bearing. He's gonna replace all the damaged parts and all but he doesn't know how to get all the metal shavings out. From what he tells me, it looks like someone dumped a carton of glitter into his engine. The bearing disintegrated. He was thinking of giving it an oil bath, but is afraid of missing a spot or not getting every bit out and having it seize again as soon as he dumps all this money into replacing stuff. Do you have any suggestions?

You'll, or he, will have to split the cases to replace the crank anyway. Once it's apart, it will be easy to clean up. A parts washer would be alot easier, but carb cleaner would work too. Make sure to check all bearings, if they feel a little gritty, replace with new.

Cheap?
Fill motor with gas and shake well. Magnet will collect it. Repeat a couple times, fill with right amount of oil run ten minutes. If the magnet has metal on it after running with oil, you done, crack case open and rebuild.
