Hi guys new rider from uk :-)

Hi guys my names james in from
The uk. I'm currently rebuilding a kx 100.
I purchased the bike a few weeks ago as a (road legal bike) I paid £550 for it and it had low compression, removed the head and the nikasil had gone, not good. The bike was very tatty. I've been cleaning her up and wanted to share some pictures and would like to pick some specialists brains ;-). Here's a few pics. Since buying it I've put a speedo on it, a 47t rear sprocket, new front mudguard and number plate, rear regestraion plate, a mega horn for mot, L plates, and waiting on the return of my new barrel and piston. Also put on some new front brake pads :-)

Also the flywheel was retarded to the max!, I put it back to stock marks with is centre mark. What would you guys recommend for a road use setup?, will consist of a lot of strait roads riding? Thanks

Haha yes they do, basically you have to register it and get a registration plate. Have (e) rated tyres/or dot tyres, tax the bike and insure it. Do some compulsory basic training, also known as a cbt and your away :-) I was looking to have a great summer but it's turned into a rebuild! It's still spring so I have a few weeks till the weather gets good :-).
So they allow road legal 2 strokes over there? If so I guess there is hope for mankind.

Thanks james . Spooly I'm from West Midlands. And thanks it's turning out to be a decent bike, thru all the money I'm throwing at it anyway lol.

Cool Bike!
I would run the timing in the middle of it's adjustment.
Advance it for a hotter, faster powerband.
Retard it for smoother, slower hit in the powerband.

I can't remember which gives you better fuel economy... :noidea: -BIG DAN

Thanks BIG DAN. I will run the bike as suggested, run the timing in the centre. I will mess with sprockets to get the best out of road use. The front now is a 13t and the rear a 47t.
a friend of mine has a dtx 125 sm, he's got a 19t front sprocket and a57t rear and gets 80 mph from a stock engine with an aftermarket exhaust.
Plus the dtx 125 are only around 15 - 20 bhp max

19X57  That's pretty tall. At 3.0:1 I would expect it to be harder to get off the line. At 3.2:1 (16X50) my 500cc even has alot of clutch action off the line.
That's wild! :thumb:-BIG DAN
