Help! New rims or just Respoke?!?

How can I tell if I need a new rim or if I need to just respoke it? Just bought this bike for super cheap and both wheels are really wobbly when Im riding it. The people I bought it from said they just needed to be respoked but I want to be sure! Any help is appreciated!

It takes longer than 31 minutes for most of us to formulate even stupid responses... Patience...

If the rim doesn't visually have any major flat spots or obvious deformations, you can probably true the rim with the spokes.
If the spokes are broken or won't tighten evenly, you might need a new spoke set. -BIG DAN:thumb:

Now I know im probably going to need a spoke set for my rear wheel, My front rim is ok with spokes. How do I know which ones to get? It's a 10 " rim

First thing is bike/rim type.
Second thing is look it up to insure stock rims.
Third thing is go on line and find a set for your size and such.
Fourth thing is order replace. And do it.
Fifth thing is, if you don't want to do the first four, find a shop that does the work and bring the rim to them.

Your bike needs a spoke job for certain if they are broken out. The way you test to see if you need rims is if you can get the wobbles out with the old spokes.

The time to find out if the seller is making things up is before you buy a bike. You said you got that one cheap, so if I were you I would get a real spoke wrench and see what I could learn.

Dan already pointed you up on what you need to get along here.

So welcome.

Yes. No, and MAYBE. Seriously? You do know that brand to brand may be different? And you haven't even given the make of the rig! You have a lot more confidence in us than we do.

You don't seem keen on advice or taking it, but I will give you another shot: If you are too lost or too new to figure out what hub you have, and the spokes necessary, I will bet you can't respoke one.

So maybe, just maybe you should give something similar to my last suggestion a try. Push button bike building is possible and available. You indicated you can't afford it though.

Best of luck tho!!

It's a Ricardo 125cc. And yes Im literally brand new to this so I appreciate any help I can get. I do not see any brand on the rim or hub which is why I am confused as to what spoke set to get. I know I need a new spoke set for my rear wheel but my front wheel is fine. Trying to take it 1 step at a time. I will more than likely be taking it to a shop to have them tru it.

image.jpg What bike do you have?
Can you post a picture?
Do you know what we mean when we ask, year, make and model?
Hint:
Hi, I have a 2001 KX60, the wheels wobble real bad. All the spokes are all there, can the wheel be trued and or respoked? As far as I know, it's completly stock. Here is a picture of my bike.

Edit: good job!

That's going to be tuff on a Chinese bike. Dan?

Put that into a search engine: add spokes at the end.

Apparently its a Honda replica? Please ignore the monster decals, it wasn't my doing.

And it needs to be trued, yes. So now since I do not have the knowledge on how to tru a wheel myself and am just going to take it to a shop, all I need to know is what spokes to get for my rear wheel that I posted pictures of earlier. Because every shop I called wanted $75 for spokes and like I said before I cannot afford it.
