Evan's Creek Ride Report

Rode Evan's Creek out in Carbonado, WA on Thursday. It opened on 4/15, so we were out the day after the park opened for riding. On the drive in, we started seeing snow pretty low down. We were pretty surprised because it'd been a weak winter up here so we thought the snow wouldn't be so bad. WRONG. There were patches of okay riding where the rocks/dirt were exposed, but most of the softer dirt was still frozen underneath. All the shady spots on most of the trails were covered in some combination of snow, slush, and puddles. It ended up being pretty fun, but drifting around in the snow'll wear a person out. We ended up turning around on every trail we started - a couple were dead ends and the snow just got too damn deep on another couple. In the parking lot we ran into a few other people - two in a jeep, two on 100s, and a couple of ladies riding a pair of kickass Urals (complete with side cars!) - but they were the only others we saw all day.

I think it's safe to say Evan's Creek is gonna need another month or so to be snow free, so be forewarned if you're thinking of heading up there, unless drifting around in snow and slush for hours is your jam.
