Another Eventfull Trip To OW

With Turkey Day approaching, the family decision wa to hit OW, instead of going North with the rest o the DBA Brethern. With Rolls, Sawyer, his "friend", and myself in the new rig, I recruited Travace, & Palmer, and we all met Sunday at Gas Dome Trail & Cahuilla Road for a very ventful trip.

Loaded up Sunday AM, ready to throw $400 in gas into the MH, pick up Rolls, and hit the road.

There wasn't really any riding on Sunday. It was a more set up camp, and putt around, and enjoy the night tme festivities.

The next moning, as we were getting ready to ride to breakfast, the standard AM shots were going on.
TDay 2012 006.JPG

The next thing I knew, Sawyer went down hard. He hit a road berm that threw him over the bars.

Here he is trying to figure out what's going on.
TDay 2012 009.JPG

After a long wait for the info from the hospital, we were on the road. Thanks to Trav for the us of his truck.

First of all, I don't think you have enough firewood on that trailer. Looks like you guys had some great times down there as well. I don't remember the weather ever being this perfect.

So, after a day off riding, I'll continue...

Sawyers X-Ray.

With Sawyer on pain meds Tuesday AM, we hit The Blue Inn for breakfast.

We finishe, and brought some breakfast burritos back to camp, then geared up for the day.

No more pics from Tuesday, but we never did find the fire hydrant. We rode some cool washes, and made our way back to camp for night time activities.

Wednesday came and Trav was gone. Palmer who was leaving at noonish, had time for a AM ride, so we decided to head out early, and hit the Travertine for breakfast.

The next stop was not the Travertine, but Portebellos Fine Italian Cuisine. I'm not sure when Travertine closed, but the new owner said they opened a few months ago.

The shot in front. They still haven't changed the signs.

TDay 2012 058.JPG

I got the same as Palmer. Did I mention the Bloody Marys are still good?
TDay 2012 057.JPG

After breakfast, we headed straight back to camp, because Palmer wanted to drive home on the busiest travel day of the year.:P

Packing up.
TDay 2012 063.JPG

While that was going on, I walked Sawyer over to the crash site.
TDay 2012 060.JPG

At least the dirt was some what soft.
TDay 2012 061.JPG

More hot stuff to come.....

After Palmer left, we were gearing up for a afternoon ride, when a huge plume of smoke started not too far from camp. We mounted up, and headed over, and found this.
TDay 2012 065.JPG

A short video where you can see the propne tank venting.

The story that was going around, was he was working on his quad, under the awning, with the door open to the MH. The quad caught on fire, and the flames rolled into the coach, out of control. I think the whole thing smelled fishy, and the wind wasn't coming from Salton Sea. He was camped all alone, nobody near him, just him and his quad. :insurancejob:

The fire got boring quick so we headed to Split Mountain for supplies.
TDay 2012 070.JPG

From there, we headed the back way and stopped at the airplane bone yard.
TDay 2012 071.JPG

A little bit of everything there.
TDay 2012 072.JPG

TDay 2012 073.JPG

I'd lurve to go look around inside.
TDay 2012 074.JPG

Not sure what these are, but there's alot of them, brand new in the crate.
TDay 2012 075.JPG

We got back to camp to find that they finished the puzzle, she rode a little bit, and now moved on to Uno.
TDay 2012 076.JPG

It was quite in our camp that night, too bad I couldn't say the same for the rest of OW.
TDay 2012 077.JPG

T Day to come...

Nice. :thumb: You always seem to find the restaurants that serve the little dishes. I think that motor home fire is a bunch of shizzle as Rez would say. The guy was behind in things and the quad sounded like a good idea but it is hard to believe it happened that way. Nice to see Rolls is out riding again.

AM Thanksgiving Day

TDay 2012 079.JPG

I had been craving a virgin slot, so this was the day I was going to get it. First stop out though was to check on the MH.
TDay 2012 080.JPG

They had towed out the frame, and trailer, just leaving crap.
TDay 2012 081.JPG

The quad that started it all.
TDay 2012 082.JPG

How ironic.:smirk:
TDay 2012 083.JPG

To credit the park, by the end of the day, it was just a dark brown patch of dirt.TDay 2012 084.JPG

Planning on riding the East end of the park, we rode San Felipe down, and over to Pole Line. This was a quick gear stop somewhere in the middle.
