I'm looking at getting my first dirt bike and i was wondering if a 2000 cr125r would be enough power to ride trails and eventually the track? I'm 5' 10/11" and 200lbs

A 250 would be better for you, you'll run out of power and wish you had the extra 100cc's. Both of my boys are under 150lbs and 5'6" - 5'8", I am 200, we all ride YZ250's and they are perfect for us.
the 5 speed 125's were just a little bit too narrow in focus for anyone I think. makes it worse when you are 200 lbs and that particular motor was down on power compared to the other 125's of it's day. I think if you bought it in good shape to run a year, at the end of that year you would be wishing you had the 250 above and realize you had spent or were about as much in up keep to make up the difference. Of the japanese 250's out there the yz is the smart buy since there are lots of parts oe and aftermarket and it is still in production.
