Other what size socket to remove 79 Xr250 clutch hub nut?

cant find the size socket i will need to remove the clutch nut anyone know? as well any other things i need to know when removing it? i imagine i can just put it in gear and impact it off or wedge something in the rear wheel

Inner clutch hub spins free. "Need specific tool" or wrap a rag around hub, and jam it in where all the plates and discs are. Risk breaking a finger on the basket with rag, then you are screwed.

Size should be in the manual.

You need a 25/43" socket but they only come in 12.5mm drive, so you need a special adapter, also you'll need a left handed socket as you'll need to turn the nut to the left to loosen, problem is you'll need a right handed 25/43" socket to install it after repairs are done, this socket only comes in either 5 or 11 point so you'll need to modify the fastener to use it. Additionally the torque for this fastener is 8.76 plutonium sharts so you'll need to pick up a shart twist nut gauge wrench. Good luck.

Yah, I was going to say all that but I thought it might be too technical.

either get the correct tool or make a plate with holes drilled for the hub bolt and casing bolt holes with a large cutout for the clutch hub nut, Google is your best friend after your manual obviously!:prof:
