85 KX85 big wheel conversion

I've got a 2011 KX85 that my son and I have invested a lot of time in. Unfortunately he's outgrowing it quicker than we are upgrading it. I can get a set of KX100 wheels real cheap. My question do you have to use a kx100 swingarm on the 2011 like any other year? If so what models year 100 swingarm will work? I can get a 1997 swingarm and linkage real cheap (like $50) but I'm sure it's not compatible.

I believe you can just swap out the rims and that’s it. However you might want to look at moving to the 125. I made the mistake of buying a big wheel RM85 for my kid, he was too big for it within a few months.

Welcome to another B-Rad!

I agree. The kids CR80 lasted a short while, and he's now on the YZ125. He was instantly a better rider on the YZ. And I just promised him he could take the KXF250 to the track next time. (He rode my buddies YZ250F at the track a couple weeks ago and said his 125 was faster so I assume he should be okay :noidea::noidea::noidea:)

I can run faster times with a smaller , easier to handle bike . But , the 250 and the 450 make bigger roost ..... just not enough ass to get the traction ....
