Thought for the day

I've mentioned it before but my great grandfather was a WW1 vet, he was 15, he got the purple heart for being gassed at the battle of argonne forest (bloodiest day in U.S military history) that is oh so different from what I was doing at 15... anyway, we have a box of things he set away from the war, his issued 1911, his uniform, photos (some of which very graphic in nature) and medals. The war to end all wars it was called, how so wrong they were......

Hell, at 15 I was pretending to be an emo kid because hey, the world sucks, my world was sunshine and unicorns farting rainbows compared to 99% of people who have lived. But at 15 great grand father was using the grip of that 1911 to beat in some dudes skull in order to survive

Props to your grandfather. Pops was a marine, my oldest brother found all the metals and uniforms and lost 99%. I found his cap and dog tag, also have American flag from his coffin and burial. Built a shadow box, and wrote to the archives for what metals he earned. They gave me a strange answer so I need to write again.
