2 Stroke Who's riding a 2017 KTM 300xc?

well haven't been here in a while as I stepped away for almost 6 miserable years, last bike I had was a YZ450F all wooded out, now I'm working a deal on the 2017 KTM 300xc, got the dealer at $8400 OTD right now. I'm pretty pumped to get this deal done and start riding again. How's everyone like the new forks on these things?

I think KTM Rack is ripping the big 300
Is that true @Rack ?

Rack has a 2016 300-xcw and I have a 2014 xcw, both are Six Days Editions. Rack went all out on the suspension from Dick's and he is happy. I rode it for a short stint over New Years and it felt good. His bike setup is a little different then how I run mine, so I was not super comfortable on it. I am running mine stock and it works well. Not sure (without looking it up) what the differences there is from 2014 - 2014 in the suspension, but I know the XC setup is stiffer than the xcw. Either way, the bikes are great out of the create.

I'm sure Rack will chime in and give his take......

I was just looking for something in the new Dirt ride Mag (Feb/Mar 2017) and noticed they have a write up on the 300xc vs 300xcw. Haven't read it yet, but you may want to give it a look see.

I forgot you had the premixer and the #5

A quick read in Dirt Ride says this about the AER fork - They say it works good when ridden hard, but will push in corners, loosing the confidence with the rider. Bounces and deflects in the rocks instead of rolling over them.

I'm sure it can all be dialed in. Big differences between the XC and XC-W - Front forks and XC has Rear Linkage and XC-W has PDS.

What's the difference? It's not an air fork is it
yeah they are air forks, look pretty cool, the way they work is you only adjust the air in side for stiffness then the other fork handles all the dampening, they updated the motor and also gave them the chassis from the 2015.5 MX bikes. read that the reeds are shit and are the cause for most of the jetting issues everyone is reporting on the 2017 KTM and Husqvarna 2 strokes, the Air box is completely covered on the KTM and chokes the bike out but is easily fixed with some plastic trimming, and some filing on the carb slide is supposed to smooth things out

I have the 16 XC-W six days like CDA mentioned. Took me a while to get used to it compared to my 2013 Husaberg TE 250. As for the suspension, at the rate I'm going I will need to send it in and have it re sprung again. Won't be long and I should fit into my Santa suit.

Coming from country where there are lots of stream crossings I can really appreciate the KTM line of thought on giving you a well covered still air box and letting you trim what you can live without. that is so much easier than fixing it the other way.

Im starting to think about a new used bike now too. Thinking the 14ish 300xcw. My weight is down to 180 plus gear now so stock springs may be OK for the first time in my life. Will have to sell the 525exc and 300exc first I suppose.
