RM250 1998 Suzuki RM250 No spark after stator replacement

I traded a dirt bike for this RM, ok condition, apparently he rebuilt the bottom end, and when I got it it was hard to start and the guy said it's a weak stator, but it would start eventually with enough kicks and pushes. When it ran it would like a bat out of hell, and was a blast. One day my brother was riding it on the street (that day it was a real B***h to start, if that helps anything) and going full throttle, and all the sudden the back tire locked up for like 40 feet after letting off the throttle (Seems like a normal, 2 stroke seizure, right?). Right before he was stopped, he pulled the clutch in and says it might have been sorta running and then stalled, or it was dead already (he wasn't sure..). I tried to kick it over not 3 mins later and it turned over fine, and it seems like it might have ran, but after a few kicks we said screw it and loaded it onto the pickup and took it home. This was in June..and it hasn't ran since. I have tried to kick it over countless times, and nothing. I replaced the plug with no luck, got another new plug and plugged it into the plug wire and grounded it to the engine to see if there was a spark, and nothing. I looked to the stator first thing as the PO said it was weak, and replaced it. Old one looked pretty burnt. I installed the new one and it was a direct fit, but the wire colors were different, so I just did my best to match up the new colors to the old, and installed it. After that I tried to kick it over a bunch with no luck, did the same plug trick with it outside the motor and no spark. Right now, I don't really know what to do...I haven't hooked up a multimeter yet and don't really know how to go about that. I'm more of a car guy and don't know bikes super well. Could one of you try to help me? Thanks everyone.

I would start with a compression test and if lower than 130psi, a top end inspection. Go from there once you have numbers to compare to the manual specifications.

I would still be looking for the spark, even thought it sounds like you have some cylinder issues too. with a manual or at least the page to the manual on the stator test, the test is easy. Honest. Even a car guy can do that. I would check the grounds and sand them for the coil and disconnect the kill button while you are looking for spark. From there test the coil and the cap.
