Electric start issues

I am having issues with my 2014 KTM 250 xc-w E starter. It only really ever started for me when I rode it for a while (seemed like the running motor had to charge it up) would never work on a cold start. It would just sit there and crank itself. well now it does not even crank, absolutely nothing when button is engaged. I hooked my battery charger to it and it says "charge complete" I hooked the volt meter to it and it says 11.6 volts. I have a cheap harbor freight battery tender I hooked to it tonight, the tender says not to hook it up if battery is dead (needs to be atleast 12v instructions say) the brushes and stator itself cant be bad already can they? my dads 2006 KTM 450xc cold starts no problem. Any ideas on what the issue could be? It does have a kick starter as well. Also headlight works just fine. only works when motor is running however

If it's a stock battery it's a useful as a dog turd on a stick, KTM uses shitty batteries at least in '14....my advice is to go get a good lawn mower battery that fits and stick it in there.

oh okay yeah its a stock battery. my dads is not a stock battery, I think you are on to something here 2ss89!

They last like 3 button pushes then.....kapoot. Also watch out for wires in the harness running up the left side of the head stock for chaffing, this will cause blown fuses, I had to redo that section of the harness on mine.
I see some on Motorsport and RM for 150 and also 37 dollars. I'm guessing the 37 dollar one is crap?

11 volts is just too low. Replace the battery with the higher dollar LI style and be good to go. I put one on my TC449 and it made all the difference in the world. These battery's are not cheap, but they do weigh about 4 lbs less than stock and are guaranteed for 3 years total replacement.
