Pro James Stewart suspended until August 2015

also... correct me if i am wrong here but did JS not get the correct paperwork filled out in time?

if thats true then as harsh and unfair as the punishment is then he has to man up and deal with it.... so should all the fans i guess.

on the other hand even if true it still feels like bullshit and i dont even like JS much yet i feel a little bad for him.

I dont feel good or bad about his situation, other than now the fim has set precedence and can do whatever they want now, for any reason. I do tend to joke around alot with stuff like this, but this could turn into a clusterphuk real quick if the fim is allowed to continue to have this kind of power, and bypass the AMA with any decisions to be made regarding the AMA's own members.

Nobody is denying that JS screwed up by not having the correct paperwork in the beginning. My (and most others) issue is with how the FIM has handled this. It's pretty obvious that it's all political.

There was a very similar case like this of an Euro rider that the FIM handled, he only got a one month suspension. JS is out for 3 seasons (2 MX, 1 SX).

Oh and JS did get the paperwork approved to use this prescription drug back in Sept.

thats about what I figured..... I hope that Ryan Villipoto wins the GP's and flips off the FIM director as he takes the trophy.

yea that was a shitty move by FIM considering they have a partner AMA.... AMA should just go at it on its own... of course i am not in the buisness so i really dont know what kinda impact that will leave but as a fan i would love to see that happen.

Let's see, so was Jeff Ward and a really long list of people that are easily looked up to. And darn it if you ever met Ron Lechien in person at this stage of his life, and got to spend some actual time with him, you would be really glad you did and probably switch oils.

Jeff ward too???
Didn't know that...
Ron lechien was a phenomenal rider... He would roll in 20 mins before practice and just sweep a race after a 2week binge. Incredible I say.

Yup.....as much as he wasted his opportunity in youth, he has maximized his potential in life and as a person in his later years. At least from what I've seen from some of his interviews. I'd live to talk to a guy like that......bet he's got some interesting storys.

I got to sit at his table at a race in anaheim. We talked about him shopping at Carrs on Huffman road of all things! Anyway, his description of Ryan Hughes saving face for him and Jeff Ward (also present) at England in the vets MXDN that had concluded a few months prior was hillarious. The man that invited me did so just so I would quit trash talking Ron Lechien, I think.

For me it boils down to its a doctor prescribed drug, its not like they caught him slamming adderall without a sub. My question is, would they do the same to Antonio Carrioli?

I don't agree totally. The same drug and it's derivatives could make it easier for anyone to focus. They get used by fighter pilots sometimes (amphetimines as well, as they did for foot soldiers in ww2 and other conflicts). In other words lots of racers could benefit from them for the purpose of performance on race and practice days. I bet I can go get a "doctor" to perscribe them for me. I bet I won't have to to to more than three of them. Can you get more of an affect by setting your own level? Seems there is some truth to that. If we are going to open the door to it, then do you let some guys race on steroids??? (they have a medical purpose too.)

The deal now and the rules do allow for his application and acceptance which he now has, so the harsh suspension is as they say "political". I would LOVE to see them ban the substance and ones like them and keep it that way. As in the case of the other drugs that can enhance performance.

Flake, I agree totally on what they would do to any Euro champion past or present.

I'd imagine that all of them have had some potent stuff pumped into their veins, just to get over pain. In example; Stewart racing with a torn ACL, Reed attempting to ride with a broken scalpula among other things.
When I was in kindergarten they had me on adderall and I got off of it against doctors orders, if they're going to ban it altogether, they're going to shut the door for alot of kids. Now if he's doing it just for the performance gain, then yes, total shame on him. If he's got a legit medical reason to be on it, and I'm not talking screwed up in the cranium because he's familiar with mother earth, then shame on the FIM.

Kind of an Olympic rules sort of an example. At the professional level where people take drugs to make money I am for banning it. Just as I am steroids and other enhancers. Hell, if my parents took me to doctors and they had things like that readily available I would most likely have been on them at that point. Since there is an age requirment to race in the series we are talking about, I don't see it shutting any doors for kids.

Athletes of all walks have taken things to get over pain and to compete when they really shouldn't. I hope we can get past that too. I just think what we have seen in baseball and football where you have to dope to work needs to be curtailed.

If you note, we were typing at the same time.

Yeah, you and me have discussed Ron before, in fact I got some of the info that I used to change my opinion of him from you.
