1990 cr 125r clutch won't work

Ok just bought this bike the other day and the clutch isn't working on it if I shift down into first with the clutch pulled in it just pulls out and quits so I drained the oil which was very very thick like pudding and it looked like it had water in it due to the milky color I pulled clutch plates out they were stuck together real bad and the guy said the bolt that holds the clutch basket on keeps backing off so I tightend that back down and still nothing but I only changed oil once may still be gunked up

I assume you have ridden some bikes that had working clutches. What does yours feel like when you pull the lever. How much play is there when you pull the clutch lever?

Spose I would take the clutch back apart, clean the crap outa the clutch discs and the inside of the clutch housing. Try to get all the old oil outa there. Put new oil in and run it, see if any change. While you have the clutch apart though, look the friction disks for wear and the plates for hot spots and warpage.also is the basket notched? And there should be a washer to lock the fastener for the basket in place.

Would it help everyone if I take some pics of the housing and everything tmrw that way you guys can see exactly what I'm looking at this is the first time I've done anything with clutch plates besides take them out to split the casing for a new rod

Check part # 13 for wear. These are known to wear over time and with the age of the bike this may be the case. If it worn the cam end of this part will not be able to push the clutch disk apart when you pull the lever.
Also make sure you have the proper free play in the clutch cable adjustment.

Also you need to find out why the oil was milky. Water got in some how. Water can also cause rust on parts.

Clean it out real good as talked above. If you really want to clean all the old crap out of the gear box do this: Fill it with old premix (or new) gas and oil, shake the bike like a can of paint, drain and fill with right amount of oil, start bike let run for no more than 2-3 minutes, drain and repeat with 10 minutes running slowly through the gears (ride it), drain and fill and you should be good and clean. Replace the cable with a new one, check free play (not four play) per spec. Look at all the info you are given in here, parts diagrams, manuals, and take pictures if you think it will help, return for further review.

was it always missing? fyi when you dont have a manual parts schematics such as ones found on bikebandit.com can tell you about pieces and usually the order they go on.
