Oh boy.

Either way, that motor is coming out of the frame.

Temporary fix - RTV the plug and re-install wet with rtv. It'll be good for a ride or two as long as your drain tubes are clear and no excessive pressure builds up in the crankcase.

Permanent Repair - Remove engine, split cases, JB weld the flange and tap new threads.
Permanent Repair $$$ - Remove engine, split cases, replace case, reinstall.

I don't like making repairs like that without being able to see the backside of my work and to smooth things up a bit. Could be dropping junk down inside the motor including the JB weld itself.
Some believe in a thorough rinsing and you're good to go, I don't like drilling or tapping without something to catch the shavings.

Do you have the broken piece, is it in one chunk or did it crumble apart? The only way I'd use liquid steel is if I had the broken part to use, but if it's lost, then I'd remove the case half and either weld it and re thread the hole mor replace as BIG DAN stated. If you do re use old broken part, make sure you file sealing surface of case flat so drain plug will seal properly. Good luck.

What bike is this? Does it have a easily removable clutch cover? I've had a few bikes that have done this in the passed, and i always JB welded or some kind of epoxy. And then when i needed to drain oil i'd pop the clutch cover off.

Or you just dump the bike over and let it drain out.

Note, this is not the correct way to fix it, Its just the correct way i've fixed mine, and others i've worked on.

Just to recap.......there's the right way
The wrong way
And BK2's way

Weld and re-tap is the best and cheapest way.

These fellars are smarter then Master Po's Grandpa! :prof:

Checkout "QUICKSTEEL" Ive used it lots on car apps, it comes as a two layer putty and you just knead it between your fingers until you feel the heat reaction of the two compounds then apply a blob to a well cleaned surface.
Place the bolt in the remaining threaded hole before and push the QS in to the gap and you will create the thread on the inside using the bolt!, it sets hard as steel in an hour so leave it proud and use a gentle file to shape the outside,
Quite amazing stuff and it bonds to most materials and way less mess than JB!
