Was it running when this was occuring?...if so maybe a plugged vent allowing blowby to pressurize crankcase and push the oil out like that. If it was not running, then I'd be looking at gasoline in the oil which would raise the level, maybe even antifreeze, but this usually makes the oil thick and obviously contaminated looking, which I figured would be a fact you would have included. And by the way, welcome to DBA Chad.

the steel framed versions i was around have a drain bolt at the bottom of the front downtube. there is another drain on the side of the engine. you drain in two places, but only fill on the left side of the engine. something that would be really handy if you plan on riding this one for more than this weekend is at the very least, a copy of the owner's manual and a notebook.

to check the oil on these you have to start the bike, let it run for a few minutes, shut it off, unscrew the dipstick, wipe the dip stick and set it back in without screwing it in to get a accurate reading

I understood you... its the babble at the top of the page that has me baffled.

Most of the ones I knew could be called "Baffling" for sure. Maybe it was just his own first name that draws them, because he has had all the names from the tv sitcoms of the past. Ethel, Gladys, Bunny etc etc, mine all seemed to have been named by communisits and people who thought they were visionaries or something.
