I was a Chevy guy for years.....but when they went to IFS on they're trucks in 87 they lost me, by 96 ford had gone to IFS also, but the fuel system Chevy was using from 1996 to 2000 was fu**ing trash, but with the new fuel system on the gm's now, I can put Chevy back on top now,and I'm not talking suv's just pick ups, personally my favorite was the 55-57 series of Chevys, my first truck was a 57 step side. Well enough of this, I'll step aside and let you guys slaughter my list.

Edit....it should say fuel systems from 96- more like 01 was trash.....my bad, I thought they held on to the 350 a little longer than they did.

Your facts are a little off :smirk:

Going from memory, which may not be accurate, but the list in my head isn't off.
Feel free to correct me, If you talking bout the Year chevy went to IFS ( on they're 4x4's) the pick up changed while the suburban remained straight axle, I believe somewhere until in the early 90's. But like I said, i just pulled this Outa my head, didn't look anything up.

By the way, whoever fixed post #1....thank you, I'm surprised I was even able to move post from racks thread over here.

So does any of these include the diesel line up?

No....but if they did, the dodge would rank higher than a fairly consistent 3rd.....the cummins 5.9l is the only diesle I would consider owning.
Engine shouldn't be your only consideration. Tranny is 1/2 the equation. Dodge may have a solid engine platform but their trannies suckkkkkkk!!!! You can have the best engine In the world but you can't get anywhere if there is nothing turning the tires.

I know, I worked at dodge for a short time.....that was one reason they are in my pick basement most of the time, I really, really REALLY, did not like the late 90's Chevys....so dodge went to 2nd by default for those years. But like I said, in my heart I'll always be a chevy man.

I've always thought that any truck that did the job without costing too much to fix when it did break was a good one. I've had good trucks from 2 of them and one nightmare from one of them.
I have a Ford preference though.

I probably agree with you.....and even though my preference is chevy, I seem to end up with fords.

My personal opinion is if you want something with lots of hop up potential its hard to go wrong with Chevy
If you want something tough, that is a beast of burden from day one, than Ford, but just as a generalization, Ford powerplants haven't really been as good as GM's, but for final build quality? I'd have to give it to the blue oval

I'm actually thinking of stuffing a cr500 FAF in my old f150.
