Help....me Out? Carb/fuel problems

So if anyone looked before I was having stator problems. Two days ago I got my new replacement stator sent to me. Took about five minutes and I had it put on fresh gas put in it, 2 kicks and it fired up.:thumb::ride:

Now heres the problem.I shut it off. I had a slight leak at the fuel petcock, ok no big deal threw a rag under it tightened up the screws and it stopped. When I was doing that I noticed it was still leaking fuel sept it was coming from the bottom vent tube on the side of the carb bowl and was just as fast as the petcock could dump it into the carb (steady stream) I pulled the bike out of the garage started it up again to give it a quick pass up the alley by my house and as it was sitting there at an idle the steady stream was still going. I got on the throttle a little bit the stream would stop but as soon as I left off the throttle and let it go back to an idle the stream came right back?:noidea: Could it be a float stuck? The carb was just rebuilt right before the stator went out on it and it wasn't doing that. It maybe something simple, I just don't want tear shit apart if theres no need for it.

Any knowledge and help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

Probably got a piece of dirt stuck in the needle/seat, start with draining float bowl and see if it makes difference, sometimes that will clear out whatever is in there, if not you will need to pull bowl and see what's keeping needle from closing.

Thanks fellas. It's starting to get a little late to start tearing into tonight, I don't want to start and not be able to finish all at once. But I'm going to get into it tom. morning and see what I come up with. Will update with what I came up with though.

It doesn't have a fuel filter on it. The float was set before the stator went in it may have gotten bumped though. I also noticed too If I have the choke on and hasn't been run all day it won't run, soon as i take the choke off it starts first kick and it will sit there and idle all day. While the steady stream is still going out that tube.

always do the easy thing first...hit the bowl of the carb with the handle of a hammer or large screw driver, give it a couple of medium raps. If that doesnt free the float then take it apart.
Just like a kid acting up, nothing a couple good raps wont hurt, and if that doesn't work, tear him apart!

Thanks everyone for all the input. I tapped the carb bowl a few times with the rubber end of a hammer with the throttle slightly open and it seem to have done the trick:thumb:

Another thing I'm noticing with it after running for a little bit. Is that it oozing and spitting oil out of the exhaust and I'm running a 32:1 mix.
