Finally exercising again.

Finally got the motivation to start exercising again, my fat ass has become way to out of shape.

A couple weeks ago I dug out my old Trek bicycle and after pumping up the tires, went for a short ride. :ride: Being out in the "air" is so much better than a stinky ole gym.

Been wearing a heart rate monitor and using an app to track everything. It's nice to see an improvement, distance is getting greater while the pace is getting faster. :thumb:

A couple more charts from today's ride.

Now I just need the motivation to keep it up. :bonk: Any tips?

I started playing tennis whenever my sister needs somebody to play with. WHAT A WORK OUT. And it's fun, I'd rather go to the courts and play a bit of tennis then go to the gym any day.

:thumb: Good job James. You need to get a riding partner to keep you motivated and to push you. It is easy to slow down or not ride as far if you are out by yourself. I mountain bike with a few guys from work and they are much better than I am, so that keeps me pushing hard to get stay up with them. I recently purchased a couple Road Bikes (one for me and one for my mgr) and will start to do some street pedaling. My mgr will probably drop her spin class as we get out more and ride. She also rides mountain with me and finds that if she leaves her girlfriends at home, she gets a better ride in since her and I will have a greater pace.

Once you get over the 3 to 4 week hump of riding all the time, it is easier to get out there and ride more.

Yeah that's always been my problem, something comes up that I can't go work out/ride and next I know I haven't gone in a week. :bonk: Which is why I posted this, need people to stay on top of me making sure I don't bail on it.

Sign yourself up for Jiu Jitsu. You'll be in shape within weeks!

Yes you will and your body will boost your immune system from all that Staph rolling around. I'm just kidding. I got myself a mountain bike too and once this rain goes away I am going to be riding it to work. To try and get back in riding shape.

:thumb: I needed to escape my crappy day yesterday and hooked up with some guys at work for a little MTB ride. I realized that me trying to drag an extra 20 lbs uphill is hard work. I really need to get more rides in than 1 a week.

Extra 20 lbs? You carrying a backpack or did someone pack on a couple pounds in the off season? :smirk:
