DUAL VS. SINGLE

So awhile back I started a thread about what upgraded I should do to my bike and what upgrades I plan on doing. One of which was getting a new FMF exhaust system. Well there was a lot of debate whether the dual pipes where better or worse and some people wanted me to discuss wether or not I like the Nigel or dual by getting a single instead. Well, here what I'll do. Ok guys, it will be about 2 months before I get an exhaust system. I am going with FMF. I was going to get the Factory 4.1 RCT Anodized Full System / Carbon End Cap. But I'll also go ahead and buy a single thingy, like take off the Y connection so there I can only put a single muffler on. Or maybe I will not have to buy that. I'll see when I get the system. So that I can try the bike out with just one muffler and then 2 mufflers. Cause I know that I already want the dual mufflers but since it seems to be a big question whether or not the dual or single is better. I'll try both for you guys and then get back. Sound good (:

Why not just buy every pipe made for yours and do your own pipe test? There is a grand total of about .8 hp in actuality available if you are keeping the rest of your bike stock. At that point you can start buying pipes to go with your modified engine too, and have them built for it.

I love it, especially when it is someone else's money.

Does anyone know how much if any weight the honda gained over last years exhaust system, or are we still rating it against an aftermarket system. (most of which claim to be lighter than the stock single as well.)

I wont ask you what you expect to gain, besides cool decals and bling factor (I am sure you are going to spend lots of time testing jetting too) and will instead just wait to see how you are going to spend.

Why are you so "anti-pipe"? Modifying the dirt bike might be half the fun for him. Like my, I can't keep anything stock.

not against modding, its just that a pipe is a very expensive way to do it for not much gain as a stand alone mod. If he were to put a stage 2 cam with some porting he'd have a little rocket, bike's efi so no jetting, but it might need a programmer, I don't know much about that system.

If i had dual pipes, i would be getting a single pipe ASAP.They look hideous. Programmer would probably be first.
