Ya know Reed doesn't continue to race because he's poor, last I heard he had something like 50 million in the bank. He's got 2 championships and his place in the record books is already solid, I'm sure theres riders that are young enough, just starting into the pro ranks that had him as a sports hero. For him to still be kicking ass is remarkable, to straight up go nfg and race a week after that much injury, when he doesn't need the money or anything like that, is the stuff of legends.
